Alpha Delta Pi’s second annual Week of Service is Oct 24th through Oct 31st! In celebration of the 41st anniversary of our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities, we are asking alumnae to choose one day throughout this week to give back. Whether you give to RMHC or volunteer for another organization within your community, we are asking all alumnae to participate! Collegians and friends of ADPi are all invited to join as well. How will you give back?
Join the Houston Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association in making 250+ healthy bag lunches for hungry kids! Houston-based Kids’ Meals Inc. has been making and delivering free, healthy food since 2006. As of this May, they are delivering 7,000 meals every weekday!
WAYS TO SERVE:
GET CREATIVE: Decorate 12x6-inch paper bags like these on your own or during our Zoom bag decorating party (see below). Focus on the bottom half of one side of the bag; for transport, the top will be folded underneath the bottom like a mini burrito! (Image above is just for attention.)
JOIN THE ZOOM PARTY!
Bring your brown bags and art supplies to our online Zoom party Sunday, October 25th, from 3-5pm. Kid's Meals Inc. volunteer coordinator Joey Hixon will brief us on the organization's mission, and then we'll get creative. Who knows; you may even win a prize for your work of art!
DONATE LUNCH ITEMS:
Each lunch bag needs four shelf-stable things: a sandwich equivalent, a drink, a snack, and a fruit item (see suggested list below). Send or bring lunch items, decorated bags, or already filled lunch bags to your nearest drop off by 10/28. (Reach out to your drop-off sister for her address, drop-off times, gate code, etc.) If you bring individual items, please coordinate so she doesn't end up with 500 juice boxes! Feel free to reach out your neighbors, book clubs, etc., to get food donations. (Please note: Although the Houston ADPi Altruistic Association always appreciates your cash donations, we’d like to keep this Week of Service project to food & time.)
REGISTER WITH ADPI’s WEEK OF SERVICE:
No matter how you get involved, please register here, and while you're on the ADPi site, be sure to check that your contact info is current!
